Taking it to the Streets

The C-section rate in this country has risen to 36.6%
We spend more on birth than any other country but rank 36th in the world in infant mortality.
We use millions of dollars in equipment to birth low risk babies while robbing mother's of their innate ability to give birth on their own.
Most hospitals in this country refuse to allow a woman a trial of labor in a second birth after a cesarean section.
We trap mothers in beds with IV lines, baby monitors, catheters, blood pressure cuffs and epidurals when evidence shows most mothers need to be up, out of bed and moving around to progress their labor.
While trapped in the bed where they can't progress their own labor they are told they have "failure to progress" and are taken to the operating room.
Birth culture in this country is broken, and has been broken since the day birth moved into hospitals where most physicians feel obligated to use all of the tools they know instead of a few to accuntuate normal birth.
